Updated 5 October 2026.
Meannit is built so that your meetings stay on your Mac. This page covers the Meannit app and this website. If something here changes, this page changes first.
The app
- Recording, speaker detection, and transcription run on your Mac. Your recordings, transcripts, edits, notes, and the voices Meannit remembers are kept in Meannit's folder on your Mac and in the exports you make. We never receive any of them.
- Polishing is optional. If you choose Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor's agent in Settings, Meannit gives that CLI each transcript's text, never the audio, and the CLI sends it to its provider, Anthropic, OpenAI, or Cursor, under your account and that provider's terms. With None chosen, nothing about your meetings leaves your Mac.
- Meannit downloads its speech models once, from Hugging Face and GitHub. Like any download, those sites see your IP address.
- Once a day, Meannit asks download.meannit.com whether there is an update. Like any web request, it carries your IP address and Meannit's version number.
- Meannit has no account, no analytics, and no crash reporting.
- Voices Meannit remembers are never exported. Forget Voice, in Meannit's Voices view, deletes one. Deleting a meeting removes its recording and transcripts from your Mac for good.
This website
- meannit.com runs on Cloudflare, which handles each request, including your IP address, to serve the page and block abuse. The site sets no cookies.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits to the site, with a small script from Cloudflare. It sets no cookies and keeps nothing in your browser. The site loads no other scripts but its own.
- When you click Download, we count it, with the time and the tag of the link you came to the site by, such as "hn". We keep nothing else about you. The file comes from download.meannit.com, also on Cloudflare, which sees your IP address like any download.
